Wagtails Dog Walking Norwich

I'm so proud of my best friend who has launched her amazing dog walking business! If you have any dog walking or pet sitting needs, please give her a bell! I know I'm biased but there really is no one I would trust more with my furry friends!

Winning our war on algae!

We've had a lot of changes since the last post and the majority of these changes were in the hope of getting rid of our algae problem, and...I think we're getting there!

The first is our rabbit fish called Rambo who we have to be careful with because it apparently has some nasty stinging spines when scared!

Marcel has also made a home made device with a box, granny square, red and blue lights. Think it works by encouraging algae to grow on the granny square rather than the tank. But don't quote me on this!

We also have two new gobies : Obi and Jelly. Obi was supposed to sift sand but does bugger all. Jelly fortunately is pretty good and does what Obi refuses to!

Marcel has also gone a bit mad with coral shopping!

This is a trachyphylia from Swallow in East Harling.

This is a Maze coral from Cambridge Coral Tech.

This is a purple acans I chose from Distant Waters in Norwich.

These flowers are Clove Polyps, again from Swallow.

And this is a clam that Polly and Marcel picked up for me. I realise it's not a coral but I've always wanted one of these! The colours are so beautiful when it opens up a bit!

We are going coral shopping again this weekend, this time to Harlow and Ipswich, can't wait to see what we find!

Algae clean up brigade!

Despite good efforts by Phikki, algae is still a problem, it just won't go away! We've had to buy a few new residents to help the clean up process. Luckily we've always wanted these guys!

This creepy looking little guy is our new arrowhead crab who has yet to be named. He really does not help with my arachnophobia!

This really isn't the best picture! To the left of the arrowhead crab is an urchin with some coral growing on it! Again, I don't think we've named him yet.

I've saved the best till last! This is our new orange shoulder tang, lovingly named Lemon by Polly! Lemon is also here to help with the algae clean up and with age, she will transform into a lovely grey colour with an orange shoulder.

And just an update from the previous post, Phikki and Gracie are getting on just fine!

Our tank is still alive!

Can't believe I've not posted since November! Didn't realise it had been that long! We've actually been a bit lax and not done very much till now but we have some new inhabitants!

Here we have the lovely Miss Polly posing with our two new cowries - Ellie and Alice (named by Polly!) We are hoping they and our new tang will help out with our algae infestation!

To the right of the second picture is the new convict tang Phikki who has already started picking at the algae, yay! She and Gracie have already had a little scrap, never realised Gracie was so territorial! Will keep you posted about how they get on!

November Catch Up

I feel like I've not posted about our tank for ages! We've had a few new additions that are actually doing quite well!

I think Twister you already know, and the smaller lime green wrasse is called Apple. They appear to have joined forces and are ruling the tank!

This is our bubble coral which looks better here than it did in the shop! The coolest part is seeing it eat, it actually has a mouth!

And above is Jazz, our cutie trigger fish posing with the fastest growing coral in the tank!

Apple in the mix!

We can't seem to stop adding to the tank recently!

We are proud to introduce Apple, a jade wrasse, to our marine family! She was a little less shy than Twister and showed her face the very next day we added her to the tank! (Twister stayed buried for about three days)

Both are very good eaters and are growing well! Twister has also taken a peculiar interest to Gilly, a peculiar non-reciprocated interest...

And not the best photo but we've added a few more frags to our tank...

Sunday 13 September 2015

Twist and shout!

We would like to welcome Twister, our new melanurus wrasse to the marine party! He's been named Twister because of his green and pink stripes, he's actually been very calm in the tank! Since we picked him up yesterday, we saw him for a whole of 10 minutes before he buried himself in the sand, we haven't seen him since!

        Twister hanging out with Gilly!

We also have two new coral frags which are doing pretty well! We're using them to test the tank and we'll hopefully buy prettier and more expensive ones if these survive. Watch this space!
